Keep your favorite Strava activities on one map
On Strava, last year's best day out sinks under everything since. Bring in the ones worth remembering, a long hike, a trip abroad, a race, and HoldMyTrack keeps them together on one map with everything else you have brought in. You don't need your whole history: pick the activities that matter to you.
Export an activity from Strava
-
Open the activity
On the Strava website, open one of your own activities. Exporting is on the website, not in the phone app, and only for activities you recorded.
-
Export it
Open the ⋯ menu beside the activity and choose Export GPX, or Export Original for the file your watch or app uploaded to Strava.
-
Upload it to HoldMyTrack
Drop the file onto the map, or choose it from the Upload menu: up to 20 files at a time, each up to 16 MB.
For your whole explored area
Fog of War clears wherever you have been, so more ground means more cleared map. Strava's account archive has every activity: in Strava's settings, open My Account, then Download or Delete Your Account, and request your archive. Strava emails a link to a .zip.
- Unzip it. The activities are in its activities folder, one file each.
- Pick with activities.csv. It lists every activity's name, date and type beside its file name, so you can find the ones you want.
- Unpack .gz files. Many files end in .fit.gz or .tcx.gz, which HoldMyTrack doesn't read: open each one to unpack it into a .fit or .tcx file, then upload that, 20 files at a time.
Good to know
- The same activity from two places, say Strava and Garmin, becomes two activities: keep one and delete the other. Coming from Garmin? See exporting your Garmin activities.
- Mark home as a Private location and wherever a track starts or ends there, that part is hidden. See Settings and privacy.
- Nobody else sees your map. There are no followers, kudos or leaderboards.
