Every place you have ever run, ridden or walked — on one map.
Your watch or fitness app shows you one workout at a time, and the old ones get lost whenever you switch apps or devices. HoldMyTrack puts all of them together — years of walks, runs, rides and hikes — on a single map, so you can see the places you know by heart and, just as clearly, the streets, parks and trails you have never set foot on. It is free for everyone, and it is funded by the people who use it.
How it works
-
Bring what you already recorded
Upload the files your watch or app saved for the trips you want to keep, or pick them in the Android app. Nothing new to record, and nothing to change about how you record.
-
See it all on one map
Every track is drawn together. Switch to Fog of War, which covers the map and clears it wherever you have been, or to the heatmap, which glows where you go most.
-
Go somewhere new
The fog shows what is left. Pick a street, a park or a trail you have never been to, go, and watch it clear next time you upload.
Why you might want it
-
The journeys worth keeping, in one place
Years of activities end up spread across old watches, apps and export files. Bring in the ones worth keeping: upload GPX, FIT and TCX files, or pick what to sync from the Android app through Health Connect. The app can also record a walk or a drive by itself, when all you want is the route.
-
Somewhere new, close to home
New places are always fun! Want to explore a new block while walking the dog? Find a playground your kids haven't tried yet, take the family to a park you've never visited, or discover a new trail to hike with friends? Open HoldMyTrack and see all your options in one place — the fog shows exactly where you haven't been yet.
-
Places worth the trip
Switch on points of interest and the map fills with playgrounds, dog parks, monuments, viewpoints and historic sites from OpenStreetMap. Click one to read what it is, with its address and Wikipedia article when it has them. Then go: with the Android app, stand in a place for half a minute to capture it, and it stays marked on your map from then on.
-
See how much ground you have covered
Fog of War clears the map wherever you have been, and the heatmap shows where you go most. Filter by year, activity type or distance, and watch the explored area grow.
-
Watch your years take shape
Your profile shows every day you got out as a square in a grid, year by year, with your totals and your longest streak, and how far you went week by week or month by month.
-
Keep every trip as a story
A week-long hike, a holiday, a race weekend: several activities over several days that would otherwise disappear into the rest of your history. Gather them into a Story with its own name, description, map and totals, and come back to the whole trip any time. You pick what belongs, so the drive to the trailhead can be in and the commute that week can stay out.
-
Your photos, where you took them
Add the pictures from a walk or a trip, and each one lands on the route at the spot where you took it, worked out from when it was taken. Look back at a Story and see the whole journey: the route, and what you saw along it.
-
All the details you need
Every route drawn cleanly. Pick one and it is colored by pace, so you can see where you sped up and where you slowed down.
-
Your data stays yours
Mark places like home or work as private, and wherever a track starts or ends inside one, that part is hidden, so your front door never appears on the map. You can edit tracks, delete activities, and nobody else can see any of it. And we don't keep your health profile: no heart rate, nothing about your body — only the geographical data you trust us with, and the photos you choose to add to it.
-
Share your adventures
Frame any view of your map — one trip, your neighborhood, a whole year of Fog of War — and save it as a high-resolution image, sized for Instagram, Facebook or X if you like. You choose exactly what to share; your map itself stays private.
What it isn't
- Not a replacement for your watch or tracking app. Keep recording the way you already do; HoldMyTrack starts where the recording ends.
- Not a coach or a health app. There are no training plans, readiness scores or HR zones, and no heart rate at all. It is about where you went, not how your body did.
- Not just for athletes. Anyone can use it in their own way, from kids to retirees: a daily dog walk counts as much as a marathon.
- Not a social network. No feed, followers, kudos or leaderboards. Your map is yours alone.
Free, and funded in the open
HoldMyTrack is free for everyone and will be paid for by recurring community donations, with the running costs and the money that comes in published openly. Every feature is available to everyone, and your data is never sold. The site uses cookies only to keep you signed in and to remember the language you picked, plus a short-lived one while you sign in with Google or Facebook, and it runs no analytics or trackers.
It is early days: the project is in active development, and donations are not open yet.
